Post-CNY

Past few days were quite eventful, not as boring as I thought.
Enjoyed the time of fellowship in Gideon's and Jon Tay's houses on Sunday.
A very brief night of an unusual fantasy movie, Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, with Faith, Puay and Cong. Didn't get to "chill" as planned though, but enjoyed their company nonetheless.
Visits to Puay's and Huaxiang's houses, good time of fellowshipping with spiritual family, and good food, lol.

I love this family of God...

Now time to post up some works I've done for this week!
I'm loving graphic storytelling man, I can really explore and do the things that I love to do!
Now becoming a comic artist has come back to my list of dream jobs, haha..
Will see where God will lead me.

This comic is an experimental comic strip. Playing around with panelling, how a comic character comes out beyond the 4th dimension. A response to the seemingly popular use of out-of-frame images in most mangas nowadays. The 2nd one is added with the reader's speech input to the story, see if you'd think similarly when you read the previous piece.

Let me know which one works better for you, whoever that read these! =D

Graphic Storytelling

I shall be more faithful with my blog, to at least put up some of my works, lol.

Here's an experimentation with layout in comics, about instruction how to use a chopstick.

And here's the latest work, based on the fable of Hare and Tortoise Race. Put in some twist, hopefully still understandable.

Discovered something new! Love the chalk-y texture of the brush, AWESOME! =D
04-2020 mins

A very fun process where I don't know what I draw until all the curves started joining and stuff. Not a very satisfying result, but it's getting somewhere I guess. Very rudimentary colour combination. Need more practice!
03-2020 mins

Trying to do a realistic speed painting without reference, I guess I still need more practice!

10 - 15 minutes each (both are not related in any way)

Attempting to experiment with colours, doing a manga/comic by not using predrawn lines.
Monochrome colours, used to establish the mood.
Minimalistic backgrounds.
Intention is to focus more on producing the narrative with sufficient information contained in one panel.
Font is Laffayette Comic Pro. Text balloons follow the mood (this one is yet to be explored).

Inspired by Ashley Wood's Metal Gear Solid Graphic Novel.
