A little act of service..

Today (erm, Sunday) i went to work at Es Teler again, met with a few new people. Can't really remember their names, but one of them, Kenedy, is an Indon also, so it was quite easy to communicate with him. Another guy was a Myanmar guy, with some unique name, hahah.. I shall not attempt to spell it here, it'll come out funny =P Actually in the earlier servings, I had this urge to take care most of the things myself and let that new guy to help out in smaller things. You know sometimes when we think that we are more experienced in something, we'll have this tendency to want to do everything on our own, without allowing others to help out. Then I had this revelation immediately, I guess it was the Holy Spirit speaking to me: Allowing others to serve is an act of service in itself. I think sometimes we need to know our limit, not because we want to break it (like what people normally say..), but because we really can't break it! Ok for me, I don't have all the time in the world; I'm not a very strong guy; I can't do everything that other people can do, etc. I'm just plainly limited. If we try to break our limits, it may actually harm ourselves. Just imagine if a marathon beginner try to break his limit during a world championship race, won't he injure his body and, worse still, embarrass himself in front of the whole world?

That brought me to recall this topic in "the Life You've Always Wanted", about the difference between Training vs Trying. Unless we train, no matter how much we try, we won't exceed what we're limited to. And I feel that in this 'training', God puts us in an environment of people so that we can help, encourage, motivate, inspire
each other to achieve the goal that we want by increasing/extending the limits that we have. Also, I think 'allowing' others to serve doesn't mean we must 'force' or make it into a 'standard' or even giving a reluctant approval, but to give them a chance to put their initiatives into action. And so (it seems like I've drifted away from the main story =P) I guess I'd just teach him some more stuff that i learned last week so that he could work more efficiently, and it turned out much better. I didn't have to carry all the workload on myself and he could get some personal experience too! That was why today I didn't feel as tired today as last week's one; thanks to his helps. It was truly a win-win situation.
"A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." [ Proverbs 11:25 ]

I think I've seriously learnt a lot from this experience. Thank God for giving me an open mind in that split second!

My verse of the day:
"The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
[ Deuteronomy 31:8 ]
