happenings in MRT today..

Today i was on my way to town to meet my relatives from indo who bought some indo sambal for me (yeah, i've been waiting for those sambals!! XD). i took an MRT from Sembawang at around 6.15pm; it was quite crowded, but never mind, i just continued listening to my mp3. lo and behold, the train suddenly stopped on the way to Yishun! the conductor spoke through the intercom, saying that some passenger did something to the emergency button (i could not hear bcos i was listening to my mp3 =p). Guess what, the train stopped for almost 20 minutes! after which, the train moved back to Sembawang station, terminating at Woodlands, but along the way, something funny happened. "Raffles Place Interchange". that's what the intercom lady said. so after we went back to Sembawang, all of the passengers rushed into the next train. WHOAH, it was ultra crowded!! then i heard someone commented, "Why so crowded? Singapore is not overpopulated wat.." not a very smart comment, but yea, it was very crowded, hahah.. it's something i've never encountered in singapore so far, hahah.. smrt does make mistakes sometimes after all =)

Anyway, today i read the book 'The Life You've Always Wanted' by John Ortberg. there was a very interesting extract of a story by C.S. Lewis, 'Screwtape Letters'; it has a senior demon giving advice to a nephew demon on how to tempt humans.

"Never forget that when we are dealing with any pleasure in its healthy and normal and satisfying form we are, in a sense, on the Enemy's ground. I know we have won many a soul through pleasure. All the same, it is His invention, not ours. He made the pleasures; all our research so far has not enabled us to produce one. All we can do is to encourage the humans to take the pleasures which our Enemy has produced, at times, or ways, or in degrees, which He has forbidden. ... An ever-increasing craving for an ever diminishing pleasure is the formula. ... To get the man's soul and give him nothing in return - that is what really gladdens our Father's heart."

Scary isn't it?

My verse of the day:
"When you have eaten and satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land He has given you."
[ Deuteronomy 8:10 ]
